Carpenter Company selected Bracy Contracting as Construction Manager and General Contractor because of the decades of industrial construction experience that Bracy Contracting has had in the Lehigh Valley.
The multi-year Carpenter expansion projects ultimately resulted in the construction and renovations to approximately 800,000 s.f., at a total cost over $23,000,000. The site work covered over 30 acres, with Bracy constructing over 500,000 s.f. of new parking lots and roadways, new storm sewer and water lines, storm detention ponds, and loading docks. New railway sidings were added. The additions are over forty feet high, and constructed of conventional structural steel and pre-engineered steel. Several additions have full span crane runways. The roofing is EPDM, and approximately (100) 8’ x 4’ skylights were installed. The exterior insulated metal siding was 4” thick, allowing for maximum temperature control.
Because Carpenter utilizes highly flammable chemicals in their production process, Bracy needed to construct an independent water storage tank and sprinkler system throughout the existing facility and the new additions.
Carpenter remained in complete operation during Bracy’s six years of building. Bracy developed a detailed phasing plan for every major addition project, that resulted in minimum disturbance to Carpenter Company while allowing the construction to be completed at the fastest pace possible.
